All incoming Sunset Jr High girls and boys going into the 8th and 9th grade are eligible to try out for both mascot and to be on the cheer squad. 7th grade students are not allowed to tryout.
Parent and Candidate Meetings: This mandatory meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 21st in the school library. The Mascot meeting wil be at 5:30, and the Cheer meeting will be at 6:00. We will discuss the requirements for tryouts, as well as obligations associated with being a member of the cheer squad.
Mascot Clinics & Tryouts: Clinics will be held on March 27th & 28th from 3:00-4:00. Tryouts will be Wednesday, March 30th and will start at 3:00. Results of the new mascot will be posted along with the results of the new cheer squad on the school's website, Friday, March 31st after school.

Physical Forms: Every cheerleading candidate must submit a physical form BEFORE the first tryout clinic. Candidates will not be allowed to participate in the tryout process until those forms are submitted. Once those forms are completed, they need to be uploaded to Register My Athlete (RMA). Everyone that is trying out for Sunset Jr. Cheer will need to create an account, as all important paperwork will now be submitted through this website. ALL candidates will need to complete the entire RMA process before participating in tryouts (except for the payment fees).
