Candidate must have a 3.0 GPA for each of the three preceding terms to run for cheerleader and must maintain a 3.0 GPA each term to remain on the squad. A GPA of less than 3.0 will put the student on probation until the next grading period. A student can only have (1) probationary period while being an officer or cheerleader. One 'F' in any term will eliminate a person from the squad and there will be no probationary period in such cases.
Candidate may have one 'N' to tryout but will be on a 30-day probation period effective the next day. A student cannot have a 'U' or 2 'Ns' at any time to try out for or be a cheerleader. A second 'N', safe school violation, pattern of school policy violations, or an administrative 'U' will result in immediate removal from the squad.
All incoming 8th and 9th grade students are eligible to tryout.
Parent and Candidate Meeting: Thismandatory meeting will be held at the beginning of March to discuss the requirements for both tryouts and to be a member of the cheer squad. Exact dates will be posted in February on the school's website and calendar.
Clinics & Tryouts:Both tryouts and clinics will be in April. Clinics will be held on 3 separate days after school the week of tryouts. Exact dates will be posted in February on the school's website and calendar.
Once those forms are completed, they need to be uploaded to Register My Athlete (RMA). Everyone that is trying out for Sunset Jr. Cheer will need to create an account, as all important paperwork will now be submitted through this website. ALL candidates will need to complete the entire RMA process before participating in tryouts (except for the payment fees).
A huge thank you to the following sponsors! Because of them, we were able to purchase much needed cheer mats and conditioning equipment. With the excess funds, we plan to give back to our community through acts of service.
