Urie Bronfenbrenner, a developmental psychologist, once said, “In order to develop normally, a child requires progressively more complex joint activity with one or more adults who have an irrational emotional relationship with the child.”

An irrational emotional relationship

”You know that feeling when you haven’t seen a kid you love in a long time and then you lay eyes on them for the first time? They run to you with open arms, and you just lose your mind with joy? That – right there – is the light up. The crazy. And it’s all we need. We never grow out of wanting the people we love to lose their minds, or to light up when they see us,” Jody Carrington, PhD.

My hope is that every student at Sunset Junior High School has an adult in the building who has an “irrational emotional” response when they see that student! My dream is to walk down the halls every day and witness moments of “light up.” Sunset Junior High School is the place to be!
