Our talented Sunset Junior High art students have completed a beautiful new mural! They used the grid method to help them accurately draw their individual squares. This is a technique commonly used by muralists to scale up their work.
The mural’s theme, “Honoring the Past While Celebrating the Future,” is reflected in its thoughtful composition. In the bottom left corner, you’ll find the original Sunset Junior High building, paying tribute to our school’s roots. The right side showcases the current SJH building, a symbol of growth, progress, and our bright future ahead.
Anchoring the mural is an inspiring quote from Vincent Van Gogh, featured in the orange banner along the bottom:
“Great things are not done by impulse, but by a series of small things brought together.”
— Vincent Van Gogh
This project truly embodies that message. Every small square, every careful line, and every student’s contribution came together to create something remarkable. Great job, SJH artists! Keep creating, keep imagining, and keep shining.
