Huge shoutout to our Speech‑Language Pathologists, Hannah Wallingford and Tracy Kellersberger, for leading a delightful fall activity: “Going on a Leaf Hunt.” After reading the story and acting it out, students headed outside to collect their own leaves — then brought them back to class to examine, count, and discuss.
Their creative, hands‑on lessons make speech practice playful and meaningful — and the kids can’t get enough! Thanks, Hannah and Tracy, for making learning so fun this season. 🍃✨

Thank you #daviseducationfoundation for our cash for classrooms grant. We were able to bring Ollie the octopus to our PE program and add it to our parachute activities. I loved that it helped us with team work and team communication.
Our DEEP parent committee is committed to help our students participate in service projects. In November we wrote letters to Veterans and Service Men and Women! The letters were absolutely beautiful and so thoughtful and warm. We really do have the best students at Lakeside!!!
Shout-out to Mrs. Patterson, our amazing PE teacher! 🏈 She’s helping 4th–6th graders master passing, catching, and running — then putting those skills to work in the exciting Turkey Bowl flag‑football games. Great teamwork, effort, and fun all around! 🍂👏
Big congratulations to Mrs. Francom — our newest Davis School District Teacher Leader! 🎉 She’s been an absolute superstar with the Amazing Shake, helping students build confidence while keeping the fun turned all the way up. Today Lakeside Elementary honored our veterans with a heartfelt ceremony. Students gathered around the flag in front of the school as the Utah Military Academy raised the colors. The students then sang "God Bless the USA" under the direction of our music teacher, Mrs. Garlick. Thank you to all who served — your bravery inspires our students every day.
What a fun week at Lakeside Elementary! Our students took part in the Amazing Shake Competition and practiced important life skills like giving a confident handshake, making strong eye contact, and carrying on a friendly conversation. Community volunteers kindly donated their time to judge and coach our students — thank you for helping make this event meaningful and memorable.
The 6th graders at Lakeside Elementary took a step back in time to bring The Legend of Sleepy Hollow to life! Our talented students created their own sound effects, lighting, and scene changes, showcasing incredible teamwork and creativity.
Participating in theater helps boost reading skills by improving vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency—making stories come alive in new ways! The students worked hard to portray their characters and make the story unforgettable on stage.
We’re so lucky to have the BTS arts program nurturing such passion and talent right here at Lakeside!
🎤✨ Our students honored the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. with a powerful speech contest this week! They memorized and presented 1-3 minute speeches, sharing why Dr. King’s words still resonate in their lives today. ✊🏽❤️

P.E. just got an epic upgrade! Our students dove into an ocean of fun with a new parachute and a GIANT OCTOPUS, transforming exercise into an underwater adventure. They weren't just playing; they were building serious strength, collaboration, and coordination skills. Who knew fitness could be so tentacle-tastic?

We love pairing an older class with a younger class for fun, creative projects like these awesome monsters! This tradition does more than just fill the hallways with fantastic art; it's the foundation for building a strong sense of community and belonging.
These cross-grade friendships often last all year long! Our younger students get a feeling of security and know they belong, while our older students develop a wonderful sense of responsibility and leadership.

Talk about a sweet reward! 🎉 Our incredible Lakeside Elementary students just hit the big 100-point mark for outstanding behavior and teamwork! That means it was time for the class to spin the Reward Wheel... and they landed on a delicious surprise!
We are so proud of the students' dedication to good behavior, and as a result, they got to give Principal Lowery a little "pie in the face" action! The Pie Face game added an extra layer of hilarious suspense! 🤣
